Reviews

How reviews work.

What a review asks, who can see it, and what happens after you post one.

What reviews are for

The timetable already says who teaches a course and when. A review adds what the timetable cannot: how the course actually ran, from students who took it. Every review is built the same way, so one reads like the next instead of turning into a wall of loose comments.

What a review asks

A review is quick on purpose: one rating, one yes or no, a few optional tags, one paragraph.

  • Overall, one to five stars.
  • "Would you take another course with them?" Yes or no.
  • Up to 3 tags describing the class. Optional.
  • Your review: what the class was like and what the next student should know.

Your review needs at least 50 words, so a one line dismissal cannot stand in for an answer. An honest short paragraph still passes; only an empty or near empty one does not.

The tags to choose from:

  • Clear lectures
  • Practical examples
  • Exams match the lectures
  • Helpful outside class
  • Inspiring
  • Tough grader
  • Lenient grader
  • Attendance matters
  • Participation counts
  • Heavy workload
  • Light workload
  • Group projects
  • Surprise quizzes
  • Reads from the slides

One review per teacher

Any account can write a review, including one made with a roll number you typed yourself rather than one the site already knew. What stays fixed is the teacher: one review per student per teacher, not per course. If the same teacher taught you three different courses, you write one review for them, and you can tag it with the courses you took together in an optional list.

Anonymous, always

Nobody, including the teacher, can see who wrote a review. The site keeps the link so that each student reviews a teacher once. That link is never shown on screen, in an export, or in an email. It exists only to enforce the one review rule above.

You can change your mind

A review can be edited for 24 hours after it first appears. After that it can still be deleted, just not changed. Deleting frees your one slot for that teacher, so you can always write a new review for them later.

What gets held

A short, automatic check looks at every review before it appears, and holds an unusual one for a quick look rather than publishing it straight away. You will see it under "Your reviews" as waiting for a look, with no reason printed: explaining the check would only teach people how to slip past it. Most reviews clear it and publish immediately.

Reporting a review

Every review carries a Report control. Pick a reason, add a note if you want to, and send it. Reports are read by the person who runs the site, never by the teacher, and reporting a review never reveals who wrote it.

The Verified badge

A review from an account whose roll number matched the department roster carries a small Verified badge ("Roll number matched the department roster"). A review without the badge still comes from a real account and counts the same toward the total: the roster only covers this programme so far, so the badge's absence says nothing about whether a review is genuine.

For teachers

Everything here describes what a review says, never who wrote it: that stays hidden even from us once it is posted. If something about a review needs correcting or removing, write to support@cuiplanner.tech.
